Privacy Policy
Empiplayer is built so that your listening stays your business. This page covers the Empiplayer mobile app (iOS and Android) and this website.

The Empiplayer app
What the app stores — on your device only
- Playback progress — positions, played segments, automatic bookmarks, listening sessions and settings are kept in a local database on your phone. They are not uploaded anywhere.
- Cloud sign-in tokens — when you connect a cloud provider (OneDrive in the current version), the sign-in token is stored in your device’s secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android encrypted storage). Your cloud password is never seen or stored by Empiplayer; sign-in happens on the provider’s own page.
- Downloaded audio files — kept in the app’s private storage until you delete them.
- Backups you export — created only when you ask, saved only where you choose. You own the file.
What the app sends over the network
The app talks directly to your own cloud provider (Microsoft OneDrive) to list and stream the files you choose, using read-only permissions — it cannot upload, change, move or delete anything in your cloud. There is no Empiplayer server involved in the current version: nothing about you, your files or your listening leaves your device for us.
What the app does not do
- No advertising, and no ad networks.
- No analytics, telemetry or crash-reporting SDKs.
- No user accounts — there is nothing to register.
- No selling, renting or sharing of any data, with anyone.
Data deletion
Everything the app stores lives on your device, so deleting is entirely in your hands: clear a book’s progress inside the app, disconnect a cloud provider to delete its token, or uninstall the app to remove all of it at once.
This website and the beta program
If you fill in the beta signup form, we collect exactly what you submit, voluntarily:
- Your email address — for Android testers this needs to be the Google account email used with the Play Store, because Google Play only admits registered addresses to the test track;
- your platform (iPhone or Android);
- your name, if you choose to give it.
How we use it: solely to send your beta invitation and occasional beta-related updates, and — for testing to work at all — to enter your address into the tester list of Apple TestFlight (for iPhone) or Google Play Console (for Android). It is used for nothing else, added to no newsletter, and never shared beyond that.
Where it lives: signups are stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), in the EU (europe-west4 region). The website itself sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
How long: until the beta program ends or you ask us to remove you, whichever comes first. Email empiplayer@torindrax.com any time to be removed; we’ll confirm when it’s done.
Future features
Some planned features — such as optional Premium cross-device sync, which would store playback positions on an Empiplayer server for your account — will involve new data handling. They will only ever be opt-in, and this policy will be updated before any such feature ships.
Children
Empiplayer is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will appear at this address with an updated effective date. For meaningful changes affecting beta testers, we’ll also mention it in a beta update email.
